Anna Clark Miller, LPCS recently invited me to be a guest on her podcast – Martyr, She Wrote.
Both Anna and I are licensed mental health providers who specialize in working with survivors of religious trauma and other high-control environments. We’ve previously partnered for a few different endeavors, including an educational webinar on the ways that the impacts of high-control environments can differ depending on the age at which someone enters the environment.

In this podcast episode, we discuss some of the symptoms of religious trauma and how it can show up in a person’s life. We also talk about some strategies for healing and moving forward. Both Anna and I approach this work from a religiously neutral or spiritually inclusive perspective, which means we view our role as supporting clients in finding their autonomy and determining their own path forward. We are committed to not reenacting high-control dynamics in the therapy space.
