Authority Magazine recently interviewed me regarding best practices for those providing healthcare services via telehealth. We had the opportunity to discuss the pros and cons of being a telehealth provider in the mental health realm. We also discussed the ways that technology has, is, and will continue to impact our lives.

Like many healthcare providers, I was unexpectedly pushed into providing telemental health services 3 years ago as we were in the early stages of figuring out pandemic life. I had always envisioned therapy having an in-person component, and have been pleasantly surprised at the ways that offering telehealth has shaped my private practice.

Since March of 2020, I’ve provided thousands of counseling sessions via telehealth. I’ve also taken part in ongoing training regarding the use of telehealth to provide mental healthcare, and I became a Board Certified Telemental Health Provider in 2022.

Here is just a bit of my interview with Authority Magazine, where I am discussing my thoughts about the impacts of technology on relationships:

“…therapy is unique in that the therapeutic relationship is a huge source of the power of therapy. So, as long as mental health providers keep their focus on genuinely listening to and connecting with clients, we can hopefully mitigate some of the disconnection brought on by technology in other areas of life.”
